So apparently VADMV does not recognize power of attorney unless you’re the person whose license a car is attached to. Wtf is the point of a POA then?! I guess since they’re a part of the state they feel they can do whatever they want, but a legally binding document should be just that. Good to know the state considers itself exempt from the laws that govern the rest of us.

Erm, what about this Power of Attorney to Sign for Owner form on the Virginia DMV website?

I’m more distressed by the fact that I almost like that new Beetle (a thing that I didn’t think was possible).

Oh so they have a special one that they recognize instead of a real one from a multi-national company’s LEGAL TEAM. These are the games I’m talking about. They basically say ours is real and the real one that the rest of the world would have to use doesn’t matter.

I dunno man, any time I have to go to the DMV I make sure to look up what forms I might need before going there. That way there’s no surprises.

VCI told me that this is standard and that the POA was supposed to be more than enough. They even told me at the DMV that it’s a Virginia things. They just decided they don’t do it that way.
